How Virgin coconut oil differ from conventiona
RKR and refined oil
Different types of coconut oil for edible purposes are available viz, virgin coconut oil from fresh coconuts (unrefined grade); coconut oil from matured dry coconuts (unrefined grade); and coconut oil by solvent extraction method (refined from coconut expeller cake). Virgin coconut oil is claimed to have more health benefits compared to coconut oil extracted from copra.
Most commercial grade coconut oils are made from copra, which is basically the dried kernel (meat) of the coconut. It is made by hot process methods.
Most of the copra is dried under the sun in the open air, where it is exposed to insects and molds. The standard end product made from copra is raw coconut oil. The same oil obtained is further refined (ie.) RBD stands for refined, bleached, and deodorized. Both high heat and chemicals are used in this method.
RBD oil is also often hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils have been shown to increase serum cholesterol levels which contribute to heart disease.
One of the main differences between Virgin Coconut oil and refined coconut oils is the smell and taste. All Virgin Coconut Oils retain the fresh smell and taste of coconuts, whereas the copra-based refined coconut oils have no taste at all due to the refining process.

Virgin coconut oil (VCO), extracted from fresh coconut meat without chemical processes is said to be the "mother of all oils".
